Ex-Minister And Former Chairman of First Bank, Prince Ajibola Afonja DIes In Auto Crash

Prince Ajibola Afonja was the Labour Minister under the Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government.

A prominent businessman -former chairman of First Bank and ex-minister, Prince Sulaiman Ajibola Afonja, has died in following an auto crash. Prince Ajibola died yesterday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan hours after he was rushed there after his involvement in a lone car accident at Ilora, a few kilometers drive from his country home in Eleekara, Oyo.

Prince Ajibola Afonja was the Labour Minister under the Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government. He was reportedly 82 years old.

He is a prominent son of Oyo town and was popularly known by his company, Integrated Dimensional System (IDS). He was a philanthropist and widely loved by his kinsmen.

He contested the 1999 senatorial election in Oyo Central under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
