Akon, the Senegalese-American artist, recently expressed regret over not signing Nigerian indigenous rapper Olamide Adedeji, commonly known as Olamide or Baddo, a few years back. He mentioned that Olamide, who leads YBNL, was his favorite artist at that time.
During a Skype interview with OAP Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, also known as Do2Tun, from Cool FM Lagos, Akon openly shared his remorse, saying, “I would probably say Olamide is the one Nigerian I wish I had signed with. To be honest, I wish I had signed Olamide because he would have brought in a slew of new musicians regardless.”
Akon further revealed, “Before transitioning into a music executive role, Olamide was my favorite artist. I even told him he was my favorite artist the first time we met.”
