Billionaire industrialist, Prince (Dr) Samuel Adedoyin has recalled a point in his life when all he had prayed fervently to God for was just to own a Volkswagen and a bungalow -but he has gotten so much more than that. Today, he ranks among the most successful businessmen in the history of Nigeria. The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Doyin Group Investment Limited -contributing heavily to the growth of Nigeria’s economy for over 60 years. He is also one of the highly-recognized philanthropists in the country. He has just donated a one-storey ICT Building to the Lagos State University.88-year old Prince Adedoyin christened his donation ‘Town-to -Gown’, depicting how he weathered the storm from a humble and illiterate background to attain the height which now endears him to many. While explaining the motivation behind the donation, he disclosed that his aim was to give back in appreciation of what God has done in his life.
He said: “There was a time I was talking to God about what I wanted from him. At the time, all I wanted was just a Volkswagen and a bungalow. But God did many more for me and made me who I am today. I felt that I should appreciate God for all He has done by giving to the university on which land I made all my achievements.” The the investment guru would be conferred with an honorary degree alongside other eminent Nigerians during the university’s 27th Convocation Ceremony, holding between 30th May and 6th June 2024.
The VC of LASU, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, in her remarks, lauded Prince Adedoyin for the donation, which she said will enhance the ICT services of the university. “To have such a big structure donated to our university is something we are very grateful for. We thank you and pray that God will continue to bless you sir”, she said.

Director, Directorate of ICT, Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, who was also on the VC’s delegation, expressed appreciation for the ICT Building. He reported that LASU has gone digital in its services and embraced hybrid teaching, and as such, the donation was coming at the right time. He assured that the facility would be put to optimal use.
