Biola Adams-Odutayo: Public Demand Justice ‘Reckless Driver’ Who Killed 31yr Old Co-Founder Of Bumpa, Teejay Opaleye In Lagos

Adetunji Opayele, also known as Teejay, the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Bumpa, died on March 4 following an accident in Lagos. Since the sad incident, there has been a public outcry demanding justice for him.

In a petition Change.org nge.org initiated by ‘Teejay Legacy,’ and signed by over 30,000 people so far, the petitioners demand proof that Biola Adams-Odutayo is still in Lagos State. They also want her charged with manslaughter rather than reckless driving. The petitioners noted that the police summoned Biola Adams-Odutayo to the station on March 17 and she failed to show up.

According to the petition, Opayele, who had the right of way, had just left the iFitness gym in Victoria Island and was riding along Ozumba Mbadiwe at 10:20 pm when Biola Adams-Odutayo, driving a vehicle with licence plate number LND 418 JR, appeared on the expressway without considering oncoming traffic, crashing into him.

The petition accuses Adams-Odutayo, who is a healthcare professional, of failing to assist Teejay, despite his critical condition, claiming that when asked for help, she stated she did not want blood to stain her car.

As a result, bystanders attempted to get Teejay to a hospital, but several medical facilities allegedly refused to treat him.

He was eventually admitted to another hospital, where he was declared dead after midnight.

Adams-Odutayo, was arrested and charged with reckless driving but was released on bail.

Many Nigerians are calling for more severe charges, including manslaughter, rather than the reckless driving charge.

Petitioners have also demanded that the Lagos State Ministry of Justice oversee a thorough investigation and ensure proper prosecution.
