South Korean female singers, K-pop sensation BLACKPINK has officially extended their contract with YG Entertainment, putting an end to months of speculation about members Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa potentially leaving after their exclusive contract expired in August.
The company’s shares surged by 26% following the announcement. YG Entertainment shared in a filing on Wednesday, “The board has resolved to renew contracts with all four BLACKPINK members.”
YG founder Yang Hyun Suk expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased to continue our relationship with BLACKPINK, who will undoubtedly continue to shine in the global music market as ambassadors of both our company and K-pop.”
