The latest update from actor John Okafor’s family, also known as Mr. Ibu, reveals that one of his legs had to be amputated in order to save his life. In October, news emerged about the veteran actor’s illness, and a call for financial assistance to support his treatment.
In a statement posted on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, it was disclosed that he had undergone seven successful surgeries, including the amputation of one leg, all in an effort to ensure his survival.
The statement expressed gratitude to the people who had provided support, acknowledging that words alone couldn’t express their thanks. It also mentioned that while the situation has been challenging, the family had to accept the amputation as part of Mr. Ibu’s new reality to ensure his survival.
The family continued to seek assistance from well-meaning Nigerians, as Mr. Ibu remained in a delicate state and needed all the help he could get. They conveyed their appreciation to everyone who had supported them during this challenging time and promised that Mr. Ibu would personally acknowledge the support once he’s stable.
