Tying for the third-highest number of nods alongside DJ Khaled, he follows closely behind Drake, who boasts nine nominations, while Cardi B and 21 Savage lead the pack with a remarkable 12 nominations each.
Notably, Burna Boy has etched his name in history as the first African artist to receive a nomination in the Artiste of the Year category at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. In this fiercely competitive category, he will go head-to-head with Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, 21 Savage, Drake, Cardi B, and other industry heavyweights.
Burna Boy’s nominations extend across multiple categories, including Song of the Year for his hit “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” featuring 21 Savage, Best Hip-Hop Video for the same track, Best Collaboration for the same song, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, and Hustler of the Year.
This year marks a unique moment in the history of the Best International Flow category, as no Nigerian rapper has received a nomination for the first time since its inception in 2019.
