DCP Gbolahan Olugbemi: Police Top-Shot Dies In Mysterious Circumstances Inside His Country Home While On Easter Holiday

Body of former ADC to late Governor Alao-Akala was reportedly found hanging alone inside his mansion.

A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Gbolahan Olugbemi has been reported dead today in mysterious circumstances. 50 years old DCP Olugbemi, who was serving at the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (FCIID), Alagbon, reportedly died in his country home in Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́, Oyo State, where he had gone for the Easter break.

According to a report by NewsmakersNG, neighbours accounted that Olugbemi died in circumstances suspected to be suicide by hanging. His body was reportedly found alone in the mansion. Police authorities are however yet to disclose their findings.

The late Olugbemi, a United Nations medalist in Law Enforcement and Administration  had served as the ADC to the late Oyo State Governor, Alao Akala. He was DPO at Ilupeju, Area Commander at Ajah in Lagos, and he had served as Personal Assistant to two Lagos State Commissioners of Police, the late CP Young Arebamen and the late DIG Israel Ajao.

Olugbemi, who had received training in Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Operations, had received several awards in Nigeria and abroad, and he had been celebrated in the media for several good deeds in the course of his career. He was celebrated for his management of the #ENDSARS protests at Lekki-Ajah area in 2020.

Olugbemi was a graduate of the University of Lagos and the Olabisi Onabanjo University (Philosophy, 1995).
