Ekiti Pastor in Custody for Alleged Murder of Pregnant Wife

Abiodun Sunday Oluwadare, a pastor, has been apprehended by the police in Ido-Ile, Ekiti State, for allegedly murdering his pregnant wife, Tosin Oluwadare. The State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing. The pastor, also known as Araina, reportedly strangled Tosin for ritual purposes around 9 pm on November 19, 2023.

He was intercepted with the victim’s corpse while attempting to leave the town, heading to extract the fetus without her parents’ consent.

The incident unfolded at Ita-Ido, leading to his detainment at the police post in Ido-Ile, then at Ekiti West District Police, and finally, the homicide section of the State command. Additional information revealed that the pastor,

formerly a herbalist, had a history of alleged child kidnapping and had been expelled from a Christ Apostolic Church in Ori-Oke, Ido Mountain, Ekiti West. Samuel Ibironke, the deceased’s step-brother, corroborated the incident,

recounting that the pastor called his wife, a health worker, to assist after claiming a different situation, only for her to discover the grim truth. The traditional ruler, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, condemned the killing and urged authorities to thoroughly investigate and bring the perpetrator to justice as a deterrent.
