Ex-Supercop, Abba Kyari Who Has Spent 27 Months In Custody Granted 2 Weeks Bail To Bury His Mum

Justice Emeka Nwite ordered Kyari to deposit the sum of N50 million and a surety in like sum.

A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday granted former Commander of the Force Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari two weeks bail to bury his mother. Although Kyari ‘s mother, Yachilla Imam Kyari, died in the early hours of Sunday the 5th of May in Borno, and was buried according to Islamic rites same day, Kyari was absent to give final respect to her. She is survived by 10 Children; five males and five females.However, Kyari who is standing trial and has spent 27 months in detention, will now be present at the Fidau prayers for his late mum as  the court granted him two weeks bail to enable him plan for that. He will return to detention thereafter.

Justice Emeka Nwite ordered Kyari to deposit the sum of N50 million and a surety in like sum.
He also ordered that the surety which shall be his counsel in the matter, should deposit a copy of his call to bar certificate to the deputy registrar of the court.

The court has fixed May 31 for the determination of his bail application. Kyari is being tried for drug-related offences filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). He was arrested by the NDLEA over two years ago on February 14, 2022.
