Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, the representative of Ikeja Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly has commenced distribution of food palliatives to register voters in the constituency -to cushion the effects of the economic challenges currently being faced in the country.
The exercise which started on Thursday, April 11, 2024, is targeted at all registered voters in the Constituency irrespective of party affiliations, religions or ethnicity. The exercise commenced at the Constituency office of the Lawmaker located at Omole area of the state.
So far, the exercise has continued seamlessly, devoid of rancour and disorderliness associated with such programmes – as beneficiaries walked in, took their seats under canopies provided by the lawmaker and took their turns in batches to check their names on the register before receiving the items. The entry qualification for the exercise is the Permanent Voters Card. Aides of the Lawmaker with the voters list called recipients on phone and invite them to come to the venue of the distribution and collect the food palliatives.
Speaking about the exercise, Hon. Faleke (who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance) said “this is not about politicians, but the real voters. We’re targeting the real voters. The only qualification for you to benefit is to present your PVC. Those invited were asked to come with their PVCs to authenticate their claim. And this is how it will be done throughout the Federal Constituency. All registered voters in the 667 polling units in Ikeja Federal Constituency will benefit from this programme.”
“We are reaching out directly to the voters. No matter your party affiliation or the candidate you support, if you’re a registered voter in this Federal Constituency, you’ll benefit. We’re not asking anybody to drop his or her PVC, we only ask them to bring it for validation. We have our records and we do our fact-checking to ascertain claims”.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries from the exercise have been showering praises on the Lawmaker for the gesture.
