The Federal Government has announced the designation of Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, as public holidays to commemorate the celebrations of Good Friday and Easter Monday for the year 2024.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aishetu Ndayako.
In his message, the Minister encouraged Christians and all Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ in his crucifixion, emphasizing the significance of Easter in promoting values of love, forgiveness, and compassion. He noted that these values are essential for fostering social cohesion and harmony in the country.
