FG to Finish Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by Mid-September: Umahi

During a recent inspection tour of Federal Government projects in Lagos State on Tuesday, August 29, Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, shared an exciting revelation. The long-awaited completion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is on track for mid-September. This news comes after years of reconstruction efforts on this vital route.

Minister Umahi commenced his inspection tour at outer Marina Road in Victoria Island, showcasing a project funded under the SUKUK financing option by the Federal Government. From there, he proceeded to assess the newly rehabilitated Eko Bridge, Ijora Olopa, the Lagoon section of Eko Bridge, and Apapa, receiving detailed briefings from ministry officials and project contractors.

With a scorecard released by the Ministry of Works and Housing at the end of the previous administration, it’s evident that a substantial 8,352.94km of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated between 2016 and 2022.
