Juventus football club is facing the prospect of losing their first-team midfielder, Nicolo Fagioli, for the next seven months. Fagioli has reportedly reached an agreement with investigators for a plea bargain after being involved in gambling activities totaling over one million euros a few months ago. His association with bookies also implicated his fellow footballers, Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo, linking them with betting agents for secure wagers.
As a result of his involvement, Fagioli is expected to receive a seven-month ban, which would keep him out of the action for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. However, Tonali and Zaniolo are set to be questioned by the Turin and FIGC Prosecutors either by the end of the week or starting from October 23.
Tonali’s agent has confirmed that his client is seeking help to address his gambling addiction, while Zaniolo, through his legal representation, has asserted that he has never placed bets on football matches and is confident that he won’t face a ban from the FIGC.
