KEDCO Promises Improved Electricity Supply and Tariff Discounts for Jigawa, Katsina, and Kano States During Ramadan

Residents of Jigawa, Katsina, and Kano States can look forward to improved electricity supply and a 10% tariff discount during the month of Ramadan, thanks to a commitment from the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).

KEDCO announced its intention to enhance electricity provision across the states, offering a 10% discount promotion to ease customers’ financial burdens while fulfilling their electricity obligations. The discount applies to both non-maximum demand (NMD) post-paid and prepaid customers for vending and subsequent billing throughout the month.

Customers who settle their historical outstanding bills will receive even greater discounts of 15% and 10% for non-maximum demand (NMD) and maximum demand (MD) respectively.

Abubakar Yusuf, the Managing Director/CEO of KEDCO, confirmed the development, stating, “We have assured our valued customers of improved power supply during the Holy Month of Ramadan. We are actively engaging with relevant stakeholders to enhance power allocation to KEDCO franchise.”

Yusuf addressed the recent power supply shortage, attributing it to low power generation nationwide due to gas constraints, resulting in low load allocation for distribution.

He assured customers of ongoing efforts to improve load allocation and power supply, especially during Ramadan, and mentioned discussions with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to secure additional energy supply for the KEDCO franchise area.

Yusuf also urged community members to protect power installations, emphasizing that vandalism not only poses a threat but also hinders the delivery of uninterrupted power supply.
