Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway: Elevation Church, SmallSmall Partner To Give Succor To 100 Affected Families

A property technology firm known as SmallSmall has unveiled its transformative partnership with The Elevation Church to provide succour for 100 families affected by demolitions occasioned by the planned demolition of properties on the Right-of-Way of 700-kilometre Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway.

According to the firm, a trailblazer in redefining the landscape of flexible and affordable housing in Nigeria, the strategic collaboration would stand as a beacon of hope in addressing the pressing housing needs of displaced families by the demolition exercise at Jakande Lekki, Lagos.

Besides, it said the gesture would mark a significant stride towards ensuring secure, comfortable, and accessible housing for those affected.

The demolition, which was executed by the Lagos Government, aims to recover the coastal road path for the Lagos-Calabar Highway project under the Federal Government and to promote the urban renewal of the affected areas.

Explaining the rationale behind plan, Naomi Olaghere, Co-founder and VP. Operations at SmallSmall said the Elevation Church received over 100 requests for support from the affected families who were left homeless and the church spearheaded the resettlement plan.

The partnership with SmallSmall, she said would ensure that the properties needed to resettle the affected families were provided swiftly.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey alongside The Elevation Church, as we translate our shared vision into tangible solutions. This partnership underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering positive change within the communities we serve,” Olaghere said.

Co-founder and CEO of Small Small Technology, Tunde Balogun, emphasised the transformative impact of the collaboration on Nigeria’s housing landscape.

“Our mission to revolutionize affordable housing in Nigeria is fueled by an unwavering dedication to serving those in need,” Balogun said.

Speaking about the initiative, Global Lead Pastor, The Elevation Church, Godman Akinlabi, said: “At The Elevation Church, we are committed to providing relief and necessary support to meet the diverse needs of our members and the community at large. Our response to the housing emergency occasioned by Jakande estate demolition is a testament to this commitment.

“The gospel must both transform the souls of people and improve their quality of life. Through this partnership with SmallSmall, we’ve been able to provide critical housing assistance to many families displaced by the
demolition exercise. We are grateful for their willingness to collaborate with us to support those in need.”
