Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, expressed his distrust of his deceased son’s wife, Wunmi, during his testimony at a coroner’s court in Lagos on Wednesday, October 25. A report by The Nation stated that Mr. Aloba disclosed that he and his son had lived together for 18 years. However, Mohbad left home when he reached adulthood and started living with Marlian record label boss, Naira Marley, to support him in his music career.
Aloba admitted that he wasn’t aware of the specific house where his late son lived with Naira Marley.
He further revealed that his deceased son’s property was in the custody of his mother-in-law, and Mohbad often informed him about his belongings being held by his wife and her family. Aloba alleged that Mohbad’s wife sometimes put sleeping pills in his food and even slept with another artist signed to the same record label
“I shared 18 years together with my son, and he had no record of any terminal disease. I only took him to a chemist when he was 16 for treatment of rashes. I don’t trust his wife. My son told me she always put sleeping pills in his noodles and went to another room to sleep with another signee in the same house. Mohbad made efforts to reconcile me with his mother,” Aloba stated.
He also informed the coroner that after reconciling with his mother, Mohbad bought a car for him.
