MTV Base, an international music channel, has now joined the growing list of music outlets that have imposed a ban on Marlian music. Marlian Music, a record label owned by singer Naira Marley, has faced scrutiny following allegations of involvement in Mohbad’s unfortunate passing.
In the wake of Mohbad’s controversial death, several radio stations across the country decided to implement a “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) ban on all songs affiliated with the Marlian Records Label. This ban by MTV was announced by the well-known TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale, also known as DadaBoy Ehiz, who is a staff member of the music channel.
Ehizojie took to his X handle on Wednesday, September 20, to share the news, tweeting: “Mtvbase has removed all things Marlian… kudos to them.”
MTV’s decision comes in response to the recent surge in videos showcasing harassment and bullying directed at Mohbad. This has prompted widespread speculation, with many individuals casting blame on the label’s CEO and his prominent associate, Sam Larry.
