Oba Emmanuel Adebayo: Ex-Lagos Police Commissioner Who Became King In Ekiti Joins His Ancestors

Oba Adebayo was enthroned as the 8th Elemure of Emure Ekiti in 2008.

Alayeluwa Oba Emmanuel Adebayo, the Elemure of Emure Ekiti, in Ekiti State has joined his ancestors. Oba Emmanuel Adebayo, who was a retired Commissioner of Police (and served as Lagos CP) before his crowning, departed this world on the evening of May 30th, 2024. Tributes have since been pouring in in memory of the late monarch whose tenure as both a traditional leader and a police commissioner left a lasting legacy.Oba Adebayo was enthroned as the 8th Elemure of Emure Ekiti in 2008. He was a direct descendant of the Late Oba Simeon Aminmin II, who reigned in Emure Ekiti from 1953-1963.

A young Prince Emmanuel Adebayo enlisted in the Nigerian Police Force as a Cadet sub-inspector. He  rose through the ranks and earned promotions along the line to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Commissioner of Police and finally the Chief of Police. He was loved by many, most especially his subjects.
