The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, urged Nigerians to use the final stage of the Lenten season for divine intervention. He expressed concern over reports of hunger and uncertainty about the next meal among some Nigerians, noting that some have even lost their lives in the quest for food.
In a statement, Obi emphasized the significance of the Holy Week, which commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He highlighted the fasting, prayer, and acts of charity during Lent and called for reflection on individual and national challenges.
Obi urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention, especially in the face of insecurity and economic hardship. He lamented the loss of unity and love in the country, calling for a return to the values of togetherness and understanding.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to present the nation to God for healing and restoration during the Holy Week, believing that through prayer and effort, a better Nigeria is achievable.
