President Bola Tinubu’s administration has unequivocally stated that there will be no sanctuary for the absconding Director of Binance, Nadeem Anjarwalla. Initial reports from Naija News revealed Anjarwalla’s flight from the grasp of Nigerian security forces, departing the country subsequent to his detention by the Nigerian Government.
Binance, in an official communique today, disclosed that it had received notification regarding Anjarwalla’s release from Nigerian custody. The statement emphasized Binance’s lack of precise knowledge regarding Anjarwalla’s current location, underscoring the company’s primary concern for its staff’s well-being.
The organization reiterated its commitment to collaborating with Nigerian authorities to ensure the safety of its employees and to address any outstanding issues with the Nigerian government. Regarding efforts to apprehend the Binance executive, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, declared that the International Police (Interpol) were actively pursuing Anjarwalla. Given Binance’s international status, Idris asserted that Anjarwalla would not evade re-arrest.
It is understood that Anjarwalla is a key figure in an ongoing criminal inquiry into Binance’s operations in Nigeria. Despite this, he managed to elude lawful custody on Friday, March 22nd, 2024.
