Spyro, also known as Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, openly expressed his frustration about the success of fellow singers Oxlade and Fireboy DML during a recent interview with Taymesan on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Reflecting on their shared past as emerging musicians, Spyro discussed the challenges he faced as he watched his peers achieve fame before him.
The singer, who gained stardom with the release of his hit single ‘Who’s Your Guy,’ shared insights into the difficulties he encountered on his journey to success. Recounting a significant moment in 2018 when he hosted a show featuring performances by Davido and Mayorkun, Spyro had hoped it would be a turning point for his career, given his collaborations with them. However, when the anticipated breakthrough didn’t happen, witnessing the success of others who were once considered on a similar level had a demoralizing impact on him.
Despite these setbacks, Spyro views it as a lesson from God, emphasizing the importance of patience in his musical journey. Post the success of ‘Who’s Your Guy,’ the talented artist has continued to release hit singles such as ‘Only Fine Girl’ and his recent track, ‘No Gree For Anybody,’ which he has dubbed the 2024 anthem.
