The Presidential Election Petitions Court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, has confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s election victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC). In its ruling, the court stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to provide evidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made an incorrect decision in declaring Tinubu as the rightful winner of the February 25, 2023 election.
The court concluded, “This petition lacks merit. I affirm Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are responsible for their own costs.” Additionally, the court dismissed the concerns regarding Tinubu’s conviction and dual citizenship as incompetent and subject to removal.
On March 1, INEC officially declared Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, having garnered a total of 8,794,726 votes, surpassing his main rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP with 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi of the Labour Party with 6,101,533 votes.
