Troops Rescue Kuriga School Children Due to Increased Distress Levels

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, has revealed that the abducted Kuriga school children’s distress enabled troops to effectively rescue them. Speaking during a briefing in Abuja, Buba explained that the children’s plight, combined with military pressure on the terrorists, created a conducive environment for the rescue operation.

The children, kidnapped on March 7, 2024, from their school in Kuriga village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were rescued after 16 days in captivity. The successful operation, which also included the recent rescue of 16 hostages in Sokoto State, showcases the armed forces’ commitment to safeguarding citizens against terror and violence.
