Tupac Shakur’s Family Speaks Out on Suspected Killer’s Capture

Tupac Shakur’s siblings have responded to the arrest of Duane Keith “Keefe D” Davis, the suspected killer. Keefe D was apprehended by the Las Vegas Metropolitan police on Friday, September 29, following a grand jury indictment, charging him with one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon and a gang enhancement.

In an interview with TMZ, Mopreme Shakur expressed relief that there has finally been an arrest in his brother’s murder after many years. He acknowledged that one arrest doesn’t equate to justice for Tupac but emphasized the importance of someone being held accountable for the crime. He also mentioned his anticipation of potential further arrests, including accomplices.

Mopreme further emphasized the need for more information regarding the motive behind Tupac’s infamous 1996 murder. He revealed that the Las Vegas Police Department only recently initiated contact with the Shakur family about the murder investigation, and the original detective involved has since retired.

However, the police have asserted that the motive for the killing was retaliation for Tupac and his team’s altercation with Keefe D’s nephew after the Mike Tyson fight.

Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set,” also spoke to TMZ, describing this moment as pivotal. She stressed that the silence surrounding the case for the past 27 years has had a significant impact on their community. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the gravity of her brother’s life and death and called for acknowledgment and justice.

Set expressed cautious optimism, stating that while today is a victory, she will withhold judgment until all the facts and legal proceedings are complete. She acknowledged that there were multiple individuals involved and much to uncover regarding Tupac’s life and death, and the Shakur family is seeking justice on all fronts.
