The Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa-Onochie, expressed her profound joy and excitement at the remarkable strides made by Governor Alex Otti of Abia State in a remarkably short time in office. Ms. Eziakinwa-Onochie, who serves as the UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director for the Regional Bureau for Africa, conveyed her sentiments during a meeting with the governor’s wife and her team at the 68th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, USA.
During a private meeting in her office, the jubilant Eziakonwa-Onochie also lauded the strides made towards the state’s development under Governor Otti’s leadership, citing commendable reports from the UNDP meeting in Rwanda last year, which Governor Otti attended personally. She further pledged UNDP’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth in commerce, particularly through technological advancements in Aba’s shoe manufacturing sector, aiming to boost exports and elevate the global recognition of Aba-made products.
Expressing gratitude for the Assistant Secretary-General’s kind remarks about the Otti administration and her support for initiatives to accelerate the state’s development, Mrs. Otti affirmed that her husband’s ambitious plans and programs for the state are vast and will be executed in full alignment with his leadership vision and campaign pledges.
