Wilfred Ndidi, the Super Eagles midfielder, emphasizes the importance of securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, especially after Nigeria’s absence in the last edition in Qatar. In that tournament, Nigeria lost to their rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana, in the playoffs.
With their place in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations already assured, Ndidi and the Super Eagles are determined to work diligently to ensure qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Following a recent victory against Sao Tome and Principe, Ndidi expressed optimism, stating, “This win is a significant morale boost as we prepare for the World Cup qualifiers.” He acknowledged the disappointment of missing out on the last World Cup and stressed the importance of not disappointing the fans again.
The Super Eagles find themselves in a challenging group alongside Lesotho, South Africa, Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe. Their journey begins with a home fixture against Lesotho on November 13.
