Baba Bush: Why Otunba Adedeji Busura-Alebiosu Remains One Of Lagos’ Most Powerful Men At 88

He is a prominent Lagos politician, leader, and successful businessman with strong ties to Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Otunba Adedeji Busura-Alebiosu, prominent Lagos politician and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) clocked 88 a few days back. Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the APC chieftain were joined by his political allies and followers at a special ceremony held in his Lagos home over the weekend to mark the occasion.

The Otunba Gbelegbuwa of Ijebu is a prominent Lagos politician, political leader, and successful businessman with strong ties to Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. His lineage traces back to royalty, with Princess Sinotu Tiamiyu Alebiosu, the granddaughter of Princess Adenaike and Oba Adegbite, as his mother, and Alhaji Timiyu Alebiosu of Osmire of Ijasi Quarters as his father.

After completing his education at Paddington Technical College and Hammer Smith College of Art and Building, where he studied Welding Engineering, he returned to Nigeria and worked with notable engineering companies. Later, he ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing several successful companies such as Helios Engineering Company, Jaseal Construction Company, and Mirima Furniture.

His political journey began with being elected as a Councilor in Shomolu Local Govt., representing Anthony Village, Lagos, in 1976. He further served as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly during the Jakande administration under the UPN. As a strong advocate for democracy, he actively participated in NADECO and played a key role in the realization of democracy in Nigeria.

For his outstanding contributions and dedication to his community, he was honored with the title of Otunba Gbelegbuwa of Ijebu by the Awujale, Oba Dr. S.K. Adetona. He was elevated as the Chairman of the Council of Otunbas in Ijebuland by the Awujale in January.

In addition to his political achievements, Otunba Busura Alebiosu is also a prominent figure in religious circles, holding the esteemed position of Asiwaju Adinni of Ijebu Ode Central Mosque. His personal life is equally fulfilling, being happily married to Otunba Mrs. H. F. Adepeju Alebiosu (Otunba Adefugba of Ijebu), and they are blessed with children and grandchildren.
