Isa Dogonyaro: Reps Member Dies At 46, As House Records 2nd Death Within One Year

His passing comes about six months after the death of Hon Abdulkadir Danbuga who died in October 2023.

The House of Representatives has lost a second member within one year with the passing away of Hon Isa Dogonyaro today, at the age of 46. Dogonyaro, who represented Babura/Garki federal constituency of Jigawa, died in the early hours of today in Abuja, after a brief illness. The green chamber of the National Assembly has been thrown into mourning for the second time since the inauguration of the 10th House last June.

The late Dogonyaro was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His passing comes about six months after the death of Hon Abdulkadir Danbuga who died in October 2023. He represented Isa/Sabon Birnin federal constituency of Sokoto state.

Akin Rotimi, spokesperson of the house of representatives, announced Dogonyaro’s passing in a statement. He was a pillar in the House, contributing significantly to the development of legislation, particularly in the area of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Control, where he served as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee.”Rotimi said Dogonyaro was “known for his integrity, diligence, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the Nigerian people”.

“His presence will be sorely missed in the hallowed chambers of the House of Representatives, the statement read.

The late lawmaker is survived by wives and children and he has been buried. Prayers were held for the deceased at the National Mosque, Abuja, after Jumaat prayers, which was followed by interment at the Gudu Muslim cemetery, in line with Islamic rites.
