An apparent crisis in the family of Taiwo Olakitan Cole (lover of actress and comedian, Wofai Fada) has turned her supposed happy moments into a messy affair-that has now gone viral on social media. The drama unfolded yesterday when a statement from the family Taiwo’s dad, Kunle Cole filtered into the media, just hours after Wofai dropped news of her engagement pictures and videos of her traditional wedding with Taiwo in Ugep, Cross River State were released. Friends and well-wishers had barely started sending her congratulatory messages on social media before the bubble burst.
In the statement issued by the groom’s dad, Kunle Cole, the family dissociated themselves from the union, saying they were unaware of the marriage plans and did not grant consent or support. They also claimed that Wofai is not accepted by the family. “This serves to notify all acquaintances, family and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, are not aware of any marriage ceremony of our son,Taiwo Olakitan Cole; neither did we grant permission nor support in this regard. As such, person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole heritage by virtue of this purported event, are not known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this are to be disregarded,” the statement read.
Follow up details that emanated showed that Kunle Cole, Wofai’s new purported husband’s dad and his mum are not in good terms. While the mum is said to have backed his son to go ahead with her wedding with Wofai, the dad was not deposed to it and was not carried along.
An audio recording of a phone conversation byTaiwo’s dad has also gone viral. In the audio, he revealed how the family had prevailed on their son to thread cautiously about his wedding plans with Wofai who is already months pregnant. He said their relationship is just 7 months old and also revealed that Taiwo already has a son from another lady. He also castigated Taiwo’s mum whom he had divorced 27 years ago for leading his 30 year old son on with a wedding not supported by the family.
The whole episode has exposed Wofai to a public debate with different people sharing different opinions on about the development. Meanwhile, story remain an unfolding drama that many await its ending -especially what becomes of the wedding proper.
