Yemi Alade Wins Best Music Video Award at Trace Awards 2023

Yemi Alade, the Afrobeats superstar, clinched the Best Music Video award at the inaugural Trace Awards in Kigali, Rwanda. Her hit song ‘Baddie’ secured her the victory, with strong competition from fellow Nigerian artists such as Asake, Wizkid, and Tiwa Savage.

The Inaugural Trace Awards kicked off on October 20th and will run through the 22nd. This groundbreaking event celebrates the creativity, talent, and impact of African and Afro-inspired musicians and artists, marking a historic moment in the industry.

The Trace Awards brought together a star-studded lineup of artists from across the African continent, spanning from North to South and East to West. This three-day extravaganza featured two main segments: the festival and the award ceremony.

The Trace festival began with Masterclasses, Conferences, a Fashion Showcase, and much more. Notably, West African artists, especially those from Nigeria, dominated the nominations with over 40 nominations in total. Icons like Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Ayra Starr, Davido, WizKid, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy DML, and Rema received multiple nominations, adding to the event’s excitement.
